The world's largest snake - The world's biggest snake

In general, when we speak of the largest animals on the planet it is normal to see how they appear scams that photos (often false or tapped) animals that defy the laws of nature is. If we think of the world's largest snake just do a web search to see how many denials about it appear. But then, what is the world's largest snake that you really have reliable evidence? Let's find out.

Reticulated python

Because it's really hard to find the largest specimen of a species, I will introduce the world's largest snake, based on scientific evidence about the species in general, and we will not delve into particular cases, although I will make a small mention. With this in mind, let's once and for all.

If we understand "big" as long, because then we must say that today the world's largest snake is the reticulated python (Python reticulatus). This snake is endemic in Southeast Asia, may exceed 7 m long and there are even documents say that over 10 m, with an average weight of about 110 kg.
This snake has a long head and a broad, flat snout with a hundred teeth. Your body usually has yellow, ocher and brownish colors alive, knurled stamping the serpent of hexagons that spread throughout her entire body.

The longest copy of reticulated python in captivity in the Book of Guinness World Records is called Medusa, a reticulated python recorded length 7.67 m long in 2011, when measured officially. There is also evidence that the longest ever captured snake was in Indonesia in 1912, and was more than 10 m long, although the issue was wild, was not kept, and good, it has been a long time since.

The green anaconda and Titanoboa
Moreover, if by "great" we mean heavy, we must mention the green anaconda (Eunectes murinus). This anaconda, endemic to South America, presents a green olive drab tones, black and ocher brands, as well as lighter than the rest of the body belly.

In length, anacondas women reach between 4 and 8 meters long, weighing no less than between 45 and 180 kilos. Males reach about 2.5 m long and the largest anaconda ever recorded was discovered in 1960, measuring 8, 45 m long and weighing 227 kg.

However, nothing compares to the Titanoboa (Titanoboa cerrejonensis), the largest snake existed. It inhabited the rainforests of South America some 60 million years ago, measured at least about 13 m, and weighed about 1135 kg each. About the size of a large bus and devour everything coming to him in the middle of the deep, dark prehistoric rainforests of Colombia, where the remains adamantly confirming what was once their existence was found.

Really amazing, is not it? What other species of giant snakes know?
